Banks served as an assistant county attorney for Newton County focusing on litigation and real estate. He served as co-counsel and helped secure favorable judgments in several multi-million dollar lawsuits. Banks negotiated contracts and closed over 200 parcels of land for Newton County.

He has also identified and negotiated the acquisition of land needed for environmental mitigation on multiple large public projects. Banks served as an environmental project manager for the Georgia Department of Transportation on I-16/I-75 Interchange Project in Macon, Georgia from 2011-2015.
